The secret to a perfect glide

⛸️⛸️⛸️ Skate Care and the Art of Sharpening at Berceni On Ice ⛸️⛸️⛸️

Skating is about freedom and movement, but your performance on the ice depends heavily on the condition of your equipment. At our rental center at Berceni On Ice, we don’t just provide skates; we ensure that every pair offers you maximum control and full safety. Here is how you can extend the life of your skates and what we do for you:

1️⃣ The Post-Ice Ritual: Drying is the Key

After an intense session, skates need immediate attention. It’s not just about the exterior, but the interior as well:
  • The Blade: Wipe it immediately with a dry cloth. Remaining moisture quickly leads to rust, which destroys the edge.
  • The Inner Boot: Since the foot sweats during exertion, the inside of the skate retains moisture. Golden tip: Loosen the laces as much as possible and pull the “tongue” of the skate outward to allow for ventilation.
  • At Home: Remove the insoles and let them dry separately at room temperature. Attention: Never place skates directly on a radiator, as excessive heat can deform the boot material!

2️⃣ Hygiene at the Highest Level

We know how important your comfort is. That is why, at our rental center, we apply a strict protocol after every use. Our Guarantee: Every pair of rented skates undergoes a rigorous professional sanitization and disinfection process. We use special solutions that eliminate bacteria and unpleasant odors, so that you can enjoy clean and fresh equipment at every visit.

3️⃣ Sharpening: Personalized for Your Style

Don’t let a dull blade ruin your balance! Skate sharpening is a matter of millimetric precision, and we turn it into a personalized service. At our center, we sharpen blades according to your needs:
  • Are you a beginner? We prepare the blades for maximum stability.
  • Do you want speed or figure skating moves? We adapt the depth of the blade’s hollow to give you exactly the grip or finesse you need.
A well-sharpened blade means less effort from you and more control in turns!

4️⃣ Correct Storage

If you have your own skates, never store them with the plastic guards (the rigid ones) on the blades. These are only for walking on concrete. For storage, use textile guards (soakers) that “absorb” the remaining moisture and allow the metal to breathe.

Do you need professional sharpening or advice for your equipment?

We look forward to seeing you at the rental center at Berceni On Ice! Whether you use our impeccably sanitized skates or bring your favorite pair, our team ensures you will “cut” the ice with precision.
